So I'm in University and this year I get to apply for some serious jobs that work something like co-ops. So essentially I take the next year off and work full time. But when it comes to interview questions that some of my peers have been asked so far, such as "personal struggles and how you've dealt with them" etc.. the first thing that comes to mind for me is gender/sexuality related identity issues! If I were to be honest in my answers, revealing my sexuality is probably the only route I could take to answering personal questions without struggling too much! Is this a bad idea? Honestly, if recruiters were to research me a little bit (and I know a lot of them -), it's quite likely that they figure out that I'm anyway. I mean if you know what to look for, a quick glance at my and twitter accounts are really all you need! But also if they look into my work history carefully enough, they find work I've done on LGBT websites. In the past I've heard a lot of people teaching us to hide things like sexuality from employers at interviews But really, it's been a couple of years since I've heard that, and It really doesn't seem so damaging to me anymore. Plus, if a company doesn't hire me because of my sexual preference, I wonder how comfortable I would be if I had to work there for a year! I would to hear other people's opinions on this..
